After another fantastic trip back to Oz for Christmas, catching up and camping with friends and family. We returned to home refreshed to continue on with the rest of the school year.
February saw Steve, Zac and Libby go on a Rugby trip to Kuala Lumpur for the weekend and Sophie and Sam hung out with me.
In March we headed to Thailand (a post for another day), where we managed to catch up with Fone and just enjoyed some beachy family time.
The world rugby sevens first appearance in Singapore proved to be a fantastic family friendly weekend and also a time when I reconnected with my Japanese host family in Kumamoto as there had been an earthquake there, prompting me to reach out.
May brought a sneaky weekend trip away for the adults with friends to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
June a quick weekend back to Sydney for me for a surprise anniversary lunch for Mum and Dad.
By the end of June more change was coming.
The biggest by far was the decision to move from Singapore to London. When we first left Australia to live in Singapore, while it was a big decision at the time we made it fairly easily. Sophie and Zac were yet to attend a school and so were still young enough to consider our family pretty much their world. While we knew we would miss family and friends, the upheaval in the kids lives was kept to a minimum.
This time, the pros and cons list seemed to go on forever and instead of thinking of our children as little people who would happily live wherever we chose to live, we had friendships and schooling to consider. Along with the fact that we were moving even further away from our extended family. Our time in Singapore seemed to fly and all of our children have so far lived there longer than any other place. Asia in general has left its mark on us all and I really did love living there.
All in all the move went as smoothly as could be expected. It was definitely made easier by the fact that Steve had some time off between jobs. I can't imagine how I would have got any of the organising done with all four kids underfoot constantly. It has been 5 months now, and I am amazed at how quickly everyone has settled. Starting school helped a lot as nearly 3 months is a long time to be on holidays, even if you are moving country...
I continue to be rubbish at writing down our adventures, we have plenty of travel to write about. Who knows maybe 2017 will be the year.
