Stealing hearts...

Cute isn't it?

For quite some time now Soph has stolen the heart of a boy living in the same condo... Let's call him T. It is quite cute really, T is Zac's age and was in the same class as Zac last year at school. When he found out that Zac was in his class, he complained to his Mum something along the lines of "Why can't Sophie be in my class instead of Zac?".

Both Sophie and Zac play well with him in the playground downstairs, but for as long as T has known Sophie he has been infatuated.  It started with a "Hi", progressed to everytime T saw Soph, be it from across the pool or down the street he would be yelling "Hi Sophie!" to get her attention. It is all harmless and fun. The other day I finally checked the letterbox again, something I am known to do rather infrequently. This is what we found...

Purple...

Sam is now two, where did that time go? Like everything these days it seems to be flying by.  His words are coming along, day by day they are getting clearer and clearer and I don't need to translate as many of his sentences to others anymore.  I noticed the other kids are getting better and better at translating what he is saying too.
Anyway, lately he has taken to saying in his own little way, "I want purple, I want purple.". This can be for anything his heart desires at that point in time, usually something that someone else has already.

  • It can refer to the snack that Libby might be munching away on.
  • The orange cup that someone else is drinking from.
  • The blue pen that Zac is writing with.
You name it, if someone else has it and Sam would like it, "I want purple" comes out of his mouth with a slightly whiney tone and a desperate look on his face.

In case you missed the memo, there is someone else in this house who is actually obsessed with the colour purple... You guessed it, Libby.  She has always preferred orange or purple as a colour and these days purple wins out more often than not. We have pointed out to her Sam's apparent need to "want purple", is him imitating her and he hasn't yet worked out that purple refers to a colour.  Boy when he does life will get interesting. There are two very strong personalities at play there.
It might be hard to see, Libby displaying her preference for purple at Rugby.

Random google list...

While going through one of the many piles that seem to have accumulated, since the start of school holidays way back in June I found this gem...

I have a vague recollection of it being written early one morning last year, while I was trying hard to have a lay in despite the noise in the house. I remember looking at it and thinking I couldn't throw it away just yet. So I guess it just got moved around the house several times over until I found it again.
Zac is the author, and for those that don't read 5 year old's writing...

1) top right. Who is the naughtiest kid in the world?

2) top left. Who is the best kid in the world?

3) bottom right. Who is the best sleeping kid in the world?

4) bottom left. How do you take things from snakes?

Read into those questions what you will. There is a couple of things that jump out at me from this page.
  • We obviously use Chrome as a browser in this household and Zac at that age had made the connection to Chrome and Google, as I was told it was his Google list.
  • If we don't have the answer he obviously thinks Google does.
  • Lastly, he must have been up early and been asked to go back to sleep.
